Decision Made....Shawnee Done

It was decided Thursday by the Oklahoma Supreme Court that Shawnee Starting Quarterback Tucker Brown would sit and the OSSAA's ruling would be upheld. In all honesty, that's ok.
To tell you the truth I bet Bobby Brown, Tuckers dad and Wolves Head Coach, probably feels the same way. A lot people had made assumptions about this case and didn't find out all the facts. The Brown family does not condone fighting, nor did they think Tucker shouldn't be punished. What they did want out of all of this, is for everybody to be held accountable for their actions. When Bobby Brown appealed to OSSAA after the game he expected for Tucker to have to sit, but he also thought a few of the Booker T. Washingtons players would be sitting come next fall too.
Shawnee finally got to play their semi final match up against Tulsa East Central. Tulsa East Central proved why they are number 1 in class 5A with their thrashing of Shawnee. I truly don't think it would have mattered if Tucker would have played.
One thing that did come out of the whole situation and after watching the Tulsa East Central game. I don't know if I want to coach in Oklahoma. I unfortunately witnessed to horrible officiating crews back to back. I don't know if the OSSAA has a govern body or whatever you would call if for its referee's, but they need one. They need to be held accountable for their action on the field by a group of their peers. During the Booker T. Washington game their was a lot of unnecessary hitting and kicking going on that the ref's did nothing about. The unfortunate thing is that they were seeing it, allowing, and without taking action condoning it. And then you end up with the situation we had with Shawnee and the Brown family. During the Tulsa East game a mini brawl broke out consisting of 4 or 6 players hitting and kicking each other. The crazy thing about it all if you were at the game or was able to see the game film you would see the head referee (the one with the white hat) standing right beside it. I understand ref's are human and they are doing their best. But,this is their job and their has to be some standards that have to be met. I applaud Shawnee and Tulsa East for keeping their kids in control the best they could, because very easily a nasty event could have taken place.
On a lighter note, how disappointing is it that nobody commented on my bowl game predictions. To bad, probably one of the more fun blogs I do.
