WWE Hall of Fame

that's right folks its that time of the year again. Wrestlemania is on Sunday and that means the Hall of Fame inductions are on Saturday. So it's time for my yearly breakdown of the inductees.

BRET HART
Inducted By: Stone Cold Steve Austin
From: Calgary, Alberta
Finishing Move: The Sharpshooter
Titles Held: WCW Tag Team Championship (1); WWE World Tag Team Championship (2); WCW United States Championship (4); WWE Intercontinental Championship (2): WCW Championship (2); WWE Championship (5); Royal Rumble Winner (1); King of the Ring (2)

In my opinion the prized jewel of this class. A lot of people thought they would never see the day when Brett Hart and Vince McMahon would put their past aside and co-exist together. This is great for wrestling and the wrestling fans. Brett definitely was the "Excellence of Execution." The great thing about Brett was not only could he do the technical stuff, but he could get in there and mix it up with the big men too. Obviously if you know anything about wrestling you know that he was a product of the "Dungeon." Like I said before its great to see one the best ever get his just dues. Just wish he could still get out there and mix it up like he used to.

"MEAN" GENE OKERLUND
Inducted By: Hulk Hogan
From:
Finishing Move: N/A
Career Highlights: WWE Announcer

Began his career in the early 70's in the AWA. Found his way to the WWE in 1984 and sang the National Anthem at the Wrestlemania in 1985. Became the lead backstage interviewer in the WWE and hosted a slew of WWE "talk" shows. He moved on to WCW in 1993 until WWE bought them and he went back to WWE. I always loved Mean Gene and think this is awesome. I loved watching the the Saturday morning cartoon with wrestling stars and they had Mean Gene on there. When I think of wrestling he definitely comes to mind.

EDDIE GUERRERO
Inducted By: Chris Beniot, Chavo Guerrero, Rey Mysterio
From: El Paso, Texas
Finishing Move: Frog Splash, Lasso from El Passo
Titles Held: WWE World Heavyweight Title (1); WWE Tag Team Titles (3); WWE Intercontinental Title (2); WWE United States Title (1); WWE European Title (2); WCW United States Title (1); WCW Cruiserweight Title (1); ECW Television Title (2).

A good pic, but odd one. Well I guess the timing is anyways. It seems that maybe they are trying to capitalize on Eddie's death. With the book and the new DVD to be coming out soon its all kinda questionable. Not that Eddie is not worthy, because he is. Just look at his accomplishments. I think the really cool thing about Eddie is that he had gotten his life squared away with the Lord before he past so that is really cool. I loved the comment by Shawn Michaels about them never getting to wrestle but when they meet up in Heaven they will be able to perform for the Lord. All that said Eddie was one of the best crowd manipulators. He had in my opinion one of the best gimmicks with the whole "lie, cheat, steal." It will for surely get emotional.

THE BLACKJACKS
Jack Lanza and Blackjack Mulligan
Inducted By: Bobby "The Brain" Heenan
From: Texas
Finishing Move: Lanza - Iron Claw
Titles Held: WWA Tag Team Titles (1); WCCW Tag Team Titles (2); WWE World Tag Team Titles (1).

I truly have no idea who the Blackjacks are. So I will give you a little background info on these guys. They formed early in the 70's and found there way to the WWE in 1975. They were a well liked tag team were ever they went. More than a decade after the BlackJacks dominated, MulliganÂ’s son, Barry Windham, and LanzaÂ’s nephew, Bradshaw, would form the new BlackJacks, paying homage to the legendary figures who came before them.

VERNE GAGNE
Inducted By: Greg Gagne
From: Robbinsdale, Minnesota
Finishing Move: N/A
Titles Held: AWA Tag Team Titles; AWA Championship (10)

For more than four decades, Verne Gagne was a legendary wrestler and promoter in Minnesota, and was an instrumental figure in the expansion of sports-entertainment in the early 1980s. In the 1960s and 1970s, Verne became both a wrestler and a promoter, eventually becoming the sole owner of the AWA. He remained an active competitor until the early 1980s, holding the AWA Championship 10 times between 1960 and 1981. Verne had held a grudge against McMahon for sometime for Taking WWE nation wide and breaking up thterritorieses. And for takina lotot of the AWA's major talenincludingne Hulk Hogan. Gagne had a hand in training several future Superstars, including Ric Flair, Ken Patera, Bob Backlund and Ricky Steamboat. A pioneer in the wrestling business he is very deserving.

TONY ATLAS
Inducted By: S.D. Jones
From: Maine
Finishing Move: Gorilla Press Slam
Titles Held: WWE Tag Team Titles

A former bodybuilder turned World Tag Team Champion, “Mr. USA” Tony Atlas was known for his imposing physique and signature Gorilla Press Slam. In the early 1980s Atlas came to WWE, where he became a regular partner of Rocky Johnson. In 1983, Atlas & Johnson defeated the Wild Samoans to win the World Tag TChampionshipship, becoming the first African-American team to hold that championship. Atlas went on to be involved in other independent wrestling promotions. Tony Atlas is truly a nice guy I was able to watch a documentary film on wrestling and they were following Atlas around, I think it was "Beyond the Mat."

"SENSATIONAL" SHERRI
Inducted By: "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase
From: N/A
Finishing Move: N/A
Titles Held: AWA Womens Title, WWE Womens Title

WILLIAM "THE REFRIGERATOR" PERRY
Inducted By: John Cena
From: Aiken South Carolina
Finishing Move: N/A
Career Highlights: Eliminated Big John Stud and Tony Atlas at Wrestlemania 2's Battle Royal, super Bowl XX Champ.

The "frig" is a goofy pic if you as me. But kind of understandable. I figured the WWE was done with celebrityrinducteesee's but I guess to justify past celebrity inductees they need to add more. None better than a guy who eliminated 2 WWE Hall of Famers in a Battle Royal on the grandest stage of them all, Wrestlemania. Other than that there is no reason to have him in the Hall. I wish they would do away with celebrity inductees. Maybe someday they will actually open a Hall of Fame that you can visit and they will have a celebrity wing or something.

Not Feeling It

So I'm not really feeling a good blog. I have some stuff to talk about, but just not feeling it.

The Quality Ride made a stop at OBU. For you people not in the know it is a "equality rights" tour for the GLBT. I could write all kinds of good stuff on them stopping here. But, I'm not feeling.

OU started spring ball this last week. Which is all kinds of fun for me. But I'm not feeling it. Boomer Sooner!

Intramural Softball had started up, which is spring training for a few of us summer leaguers. We are sitting at .500 after this evenings loss. But, I'm not feeling it.

*****Shameless Plug*****
Last week I started a new Blog. I figured since everybody else is doing write ups on movies I would too. I fortunately get to watch a few movies a week at work so I figured it would be good times and maybe everybody will have seen some of them. So check out Loondaddy's House of Movies at www.loondaddyshom.blogspot.com. There is also a link over at the side of the page.

Rock N Roll Hall of Fame

So tonight I caught the Rock Hall of Fame induction going down on VH1. I love this kind of stuff. This was the best induction ever! The past couple of years I've got to see some cool inductions and some of my favorites. But this years crop had the greatest band of all time! At least in my book. And we all know that's all that counts.

This years inductees are:

Black Sabbath
Blondie
Miles Davis
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Sex Pistols
Herb Alpert & Harry Moss

I have not been able to watch all of the induction ceremony, but never fear I did set the old dvr to record it. I did get to see Metallica performing "War Pigs" which was freaking amazing!!!! And I was able to witness Kid Rock induct Lynyrd Skynyrd. As for those of you who are not in the know my favorite band is Lynyrd Skynyrd and I am a fan of Kid Rock. So this was freaking awesome for me to see.

I grew up listening to all of that good "old" rock. For lack of a better word. I am just an old fashioned rock 'n roll guy. That's probably why every year I look forward to the Hall of Fame induction. I get to see bands that I think are great get recognized for how great I think they are. I never really got into the whole punk, speed metal, emo (whatever in the crap that is). Just good old fashioned rock.

So here's to Class of 2006! Keep on Rockin!!!!!!!!!!
