A university professor at a well known institution of higher learning challenged his students with this question, "Did God create everything that exists?"
A student bravely replied, "Yes he did!"
"God created everything?" The Professor asked.
"Yes sir, he certainly did," the student replied.
The professor answered, "If God created everything; then God created evil. And, since evil exists, and according to the principle that our works define who we are, then we can assume God is evil."
The student became quiet and did not respond to the professor's hypothetical definition. The professor, quite pleased with himself, boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian faith was a myth.
Another student then raised his hand and said, "May I ask you a question, professor?"
"Of course," replied the professor.
The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exist?"
"What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold?"
The other students snickered at the young man's question. The young man replied, "In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat. Every body or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-460 F) is the total absence of heat; and all matter becomes inert and incapable of reacion at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat."
The student continued, "Professor, does darkness exist?"
The professor responded, "Of course it does."
The student replied, "Once again you are wrong sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact, we can use Newton's prism to break white light into many colors and study the various wavelengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn't that correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present."
Finally the young man asked the professor, "Sir, does evil exist?"
Now uncertain, the professor responded, "Of course, as I have already said. We see it everyday. It is the daily examples of man's inhumanity to man. It is the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil."
To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat, or the darkness that comes when there is no light."
The professor sat down.
The young man's name...... Albert Einstein.

The Bus!!!!!!!!

You wanted it, and you got it. I am one of those wild and crazy fans. If you know me you know I am a Dallas Cowboys fan. But I am one of the few, and ostracized ones, that like the the Steelers too. I know it seems sacrilegious after all those super bowls in the 70's and all. But to be honest its not really a rivalry, I don't believe it ever really was. So there is the run down, I like the Steelers. Now on to why they will win the XL Super Bowl.
The Bus - Getting him here has been their goal all year. Might as well carry them on to the promised land. With Willie Parker giving them they speed. Bettis changes it up with his bruising style.
Big Ben - He's just a kid and he is amazing. His learning curve has been amazing. He has made the most of it all. Got to remember last year he had played over a year straight. He finally ran out of gas or I believe they would have won it all last year. The kid is good. Think about this - has he officially passed Payton Manning as one of the best QB's out there. Payton hasn't been to an AFC title game, Ben has played in 2 and won 1. Payton hasn't been to a Super Bowl. Ben is about to win one.
Stephen "The Weak" Alexander - I have always believed and still do that Alexander is the one of the weakest backs in the NFL. This is the first year that he has been "willing" to get short yardage or goal line conversions. And the concussion against Washington. Whatever, if they would have lost that game his team would have every right to hang him by his toes. He comes out the next week and runs all over the place. What concussion? Steelers D will expose him as a weakness.
Troy Polamalu - Is pure stud. I love Roy Williams, not just because he came out of OU, but he is a hitter. Polamalu is too. Not only is he a hitter he is a "Johnny on the Spot." He is all over the field. Found out today he sprained he ankle in practice. But I don't think that will matter. Its the Super Bowl Baby!!!!!
Steeler D - They bring the heat and they don't care if you know. Did you watch the Indy game. They got in Mannings head. They ain't scared.
So that's my opinion and I'm Sticking to it. I'm not one for predicting scores, so I won't. Steelers All The Way.

Fight Night Baby
So I borrowed Garretts copy of Fight Night Round 2 for the ole PlayStation. I've been kicking serious butt and taking names. I am the Champ, there is no other way to put it. Heavy Weight, Light Heavy Weight, Unified Champ, so I guess there is other ways to put it. I'll let you decide how you want to refer to me.
Other than that I'm slowly tearing away at Hitch Hikers Guide, which honestly is a very quick read but I already told everyone about my reading habits. So hopefully I will finish this book soon. I like it so far.
Big Holla out to Justin who was able to put aside his computer ineptness and got halo scan to work for his blog.

Read?

So I really don't remember what I read last year. I did just finish Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I wish the last one was already out. I really hope to get a lot of reading done this year. I've got a stack of books that almost as tall as I am. So here's a couple of the books I plan to get through before the year is up. Now remember you can't hold me to this. :)
Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams
The Restaurant at the End of the Universe - Douglas Adams
Life, The Universe and Everything - Douglas Adams
So Long, and Thanks for all the Fish - Douglas Adams
Mostly Harmless - Douglas Adams
Full Court - Mike Lupica
Wild Pitch - Mike Lupica
What It Means To Be A Sooner - Jeff Snook
Football Physics: The Science of The Game - Timothy Gay
Coaching Football Successfully - Allan Trimble
I know I'm leaving some off there. I don't have a copy of "Mostly Harmless." I was browsing around the local used bookstore and came across the first 4 of the Hitch Hikers "trilogy," first edition. So I'm on the lookout for it. I'm also hoping to get through the Chronicles of Narnia. The wife says she has them, but they are in a box in Dallas so I guess I just might have to breakdown and buy them.

My Record: 15-12
"The Grandaddy Of Them All" lived up to all the hype. I totally didn't see this happening. USC and UT played a remarkable game. If you missed this one, you missed probably one of the all time greats. Vince Young is simply amazing. Texas fans everywhere are praying to all that's holy that he stays for his senior year.
So that's it folks I hope you enjoyed it. No I can go back to my normal TV watching habits. My overall record isn't to bad, above .500 anyways. I was hoping that the wrong column would stay below 10. But, oh well, there is always next year!

Clash of the Titans

FedEx Orange Bowl
Penn State 26
Florida State 23
Pic: Penn State
My Pic: Penn State
My Record: 16-11
Triple freakin over time. Can somebody get a kicker please! This was a great game. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I did not think that Florida State had a chance. Boy was I wrong. FSU's freshman QB has major guts, and are looking pretty stable at QB for a couple of years which they haven't had in a while. Penn State got it done, just under 5 hours.
I just want to say that I hope that when I am these guys age that I am still enjoying life the way these guys are. Whether that's coaching or not, they truly love and enjoy what they do. It was a great pleasure to watch this match up I look up to both of these men professionally and as men of character.
GUTS

Nokia Sugar Bowl
Georgia 35
West Virginia 38
Pic: Georgia
My Pic: Georgia
My Record: 15-11
Never would have thought that WV would be up 28-0 in the opening minutes of the 2nd quarter. Georgia made a run at it a couple of times but it just didn't happen for them. It just didn't seem to matter that Georgia was at home or that they were from the daunted SEC. WV just didn't care. Gutsiest call of the game and probably the whole Bowl picture was when WV was 4th and 6 at the Georgia 48 and they went for the fake punt and converted.
THE Ohio State

Tostitos Fiesta Bowl
Notre Dame 20
Ohio State 34
Pic: Ohio State
My Pic: Notre Dame
My Record: 15-10
THE Ohio State came out and kicked the daylights out of the Golden Domers. I got caught up in the Notre Dame story. They have had such a good year, but so has the Buckeyes. Tedd Ginn Jr. totally emerged on the main stage as a premier guy. At times this was an offensive show case for Ohio State. Notre Dame tried to make a run at it but a big run by Antonio Pittman with little under 2 minutes left
Fink Daddy your Buckeyes got it done in stylin fashion.
Badger Dominance

Capital One Bowl
Wisconsin 24
Auburn 10
Pic: Auburn
My Pic: Wisconsin
My Record: 15-9
I'm really happy with my pic record. I just wanted to gloat a little there will probably be more in other posts.
Wisconsin came out and did Alvarez proud. I picked Wisconsin on the sole reason that Alvarez was retiring from coaching and that his boys would be going all out for him. The Badgers just totally kicked Auburns butt. 548 total yards, just dominance.

Gators Get Outback
Roll Tide

AT&T Cotton Bowl
Alabama 13
Texas Tech 10

My Pic:
My Record: 13-8
Didn't see this one happening at all. I figured Tech would come out guns blazing. But an early injury to Cody Hodges not only hurt him but the Red Raiders too. Bama's Jamie Christensen kicked a last second, ugly as all get out, field goal to give bama the win. To be honest if Brady Croyle knew how to throw the ball in clutch games Bama would have sealed the deal on this one a lot sooner than the winding moments. I don't know how many receivers he either over or under threw that were wide open and on their way to pay dirt.

EV1.Net Houston Bowl
TCU 27
Iowa State 24
Pic: TCU
My Pic: TCU
My Record: 13-7
TCU didn't win this one, Iowa State lost it. Whatever that means. TCU did what had to be done and capitalized on all of Iowa States mistakes. Horned Frogs are a good squad that is well coached. But I was definitely rooting for ISU and the Big XII.
Goldern Hurricanes

AutoZone Liberty Bowl
Tulsa 31
Fresno State 24
Pic: Fresno State
My Pic: Tulsa
My Record: 12-7
This is a very nice bowl victory for the Golden Hurricanes. Something for the program to build on. 2 fourth quarter INT's sealed the deal for Tulsa. I personally can't believe that Tulsa was the underdogs in this one. After the OU game I knew this team was for real.
Just Peachy
Mizzou
Independence BowlSouth Carolina 31
Missiouri 38
Pic: South Carolina
My Pic: Missouri
My Record: 10-6
432, that's right folks, 432 yards. Brad Smith accounted for 432 yards of Missouri's 504 total yards. He looked like the supposed Heismen canidate everyone thought he would be. I went out on a limb on this one and it payed off. Not many people thought the Tigers could pull this one off. Another exciting finish.
Special Teams?!?!?!?!?!

Vitalis Sun Bowl
Northwestern 38
UCLA 50
Pic: UCLA
My Pic: UCLA
My Record: 9-6
I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it for myself. Northwestern tries for an onside kick and Brandon Breazell returns is for a TD. The crazy thing about it all is around 2 minutes later after a Northwestern score Breazell does it again. Its moments like this why I watch these games!!!
Cavaliers Hold Off Minnesota

Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl
Minnesota 31
Virginia 34
Pic: Minnesota
My Pic: Minnesota
My Record: 8-6
Virginia came out at the half trailing 21-10 and played lights out. They took advantage of Minnesota's mistakes. Virginia ended it when they intercepted a pass with 36 seconds left in the game. I hope you all are watching these!!!!!!
